What is hair oil?
Hair oils, like cosmetic and skin care oils, have the same properties, only the composition of additional ingredients differs in face and hair cosmetics. Currently, pure hair oils of extremely pure concentration are gaining popularity in the market, so they can be used for body, face and hair care.
Hair oil is designed to nourish hair with useful vitamins, moisturize it, add softness to rough hair and split ends, give hair silky smoothness and healthy shine, and also heals and restores damaged hair.
What is the best oil for hair?
Like a hair mask, a hair oil has one or more base oils in its composition. The cosmetics industry mostly uses vegetable oils or oils pressed from various nuts and seeds: argan oil for hair, olive oil, shea tree oil, avocado oil, flower blossom oil or coconut oil for hair.
Argan oil for hair - called liquid gold in Morocco, suitable for very dry, coarse hair. It is rich in fatty acids and vitamin E.
Macadamia oil – best for dry and damaged hair. Suitable for those who often straighten, dry their hair (damages the hair with heat).
Olive oil for hair is one of the oldest oils used in cosmetics, but not so often in hair care. However, it has been scientifically proven that olive oil has a nourishing effect on hair. Gives hair softness, shine, and also strengthens it.
Almond oil – suitable for dandruff sufferers. Almond oil is one of the "lightest" oils and is rich in antioxidants, vitamin E, fatty acids and proteins, magnesium, which helps stimulate hair growth and reduce breakage. For those who suffer from dandruff or have scalp redness, it is recommended to apply this oil to the scalp to reduce inflammation, redness and dandruff.
Coconut oil for hair is universal, suitable for all hair types. The oil gives the hair a healthy look, makes the hair soft, promotes hair growth, and keeps the scalp healthy. It is rich in beneficial carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals.
How to use hair oils properly?
1) Estimate how much oil your hair needs. Amounts range from 2 to 5 squeezes, but those with longer hair may need a little more. It is important not to overdo it! The amount depends on the length, density and condition of the hair. If your hair looks heavy and greasy, you are using too much oil.
2) The oil can be used on both wet and dry hair. It is important to remember that different uses lead to different results. Applying the oil to wet hair reduces shine, but does not tangle and is protected from heat during drying. Using oil on dry hair has a higher shine factor, better protection against breakage, UV rays and negative environmental pollution. Experts recommend using both ways, 1-2 squeezes on damp hair, and then finish with another 1-2 squeezes, evenly distributed on dry hair.
3) It is best to apply hair oil by hand. You can additionally comb with a carbon comb to distribute the oil more evenly.
4) Oils such as Argan are recommended to be used on wet hair as an oil mask for hair. When used on dry hair, Argan oil can promote faster sebum production.
5) For oily hair, there is a less concentrated oil - hair serum. These have a lighter consistency, are characterized by faster absorption, do not weigh down the hair at all.
The hair serum has a lower concentration of oil in its composition, so it is suitable for daily use.
Where to buy the right hair oil?
First of all, it is recommended to consult and assess the condition of the existing hair. Also take a look at positively rated brands, for example Argan oil, the price depends on the manufacturer, components, quantity, etc.
